The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance on our fleet of commercial trucks used for student learning. This includes oil changes, brake and tire work, along with vehicle maintenance and repair duties, standard and preventive maintenance, and diagnosing complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when necessary. This role requires basic diagnostics and repairs, particularly for AC and electrical systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems, required
- Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Performs standard vehicle maintenance
- Performs preventive maintenance
- Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
- Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
- Replaces defective components as instructed
- Works unsupervised on most repair tasks
- Performs facility maintenance duties as needed
- Interacts with students and instructors to properly determine nature of repair once assigned a task.
- Works in accordance with all federal / provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT).
- Assists with snow removal and salting around the campus and driving yard, when needed. (We will train the individual how to use the company snowplow)
- Other support duties as required to support operations.
