Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Peer Counselor to join our team. The Peer Counselor will provide support and guidance to individuals facing behavioral health challenges, addiction issues, and mental health concerns.
Responsibilities
Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to engage with clients and encourage positive behavioral changes
Provide addiction counseling and mental health support in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner
Assist individuals in crisis management and intervention situations
Mentor clients in developing coping strategies and life skills
Collaborate with other professionals within the behavioral health system to ensure comprehensive care for clients
Lead peer group sessions on-site and accompany clients on off-site excursions as well.
Experience
Prior experience in peer counseling, social work, or related fields is preferred
Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies and mental health counseling techniques
Familiarity with systems of care for individuals with behavioral health needs
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse populations
Job Type : Full-time
Pay : $23.00 - $27.50 per hour
Expected hours : 30 – 40 per week
