POSITION SUMMARY:
Maintain production and building equipment to keep it running safely and efficiently while maintaining overall troubleshooting and repairs, improvement projects, and new installations.
- Support and adhere to all company safety initiatives.
- Perform all work in a high-quality manner to meet customer expectations.
- Achieve the assigned preventative maintenance schedule.
- Complete assigned unplanned maintenance tasks.
- Participate in cross-training to help always ensure appropriate levels of coverage.
- Interface with other cells and departments as required in order to resolve issues.
- Interface with outside contractor activities as required, ensuring the contractors are following applicable New Flyer rules and requirements.
- Support and comply with all Operational Excellence initiatives, including 5S and lean manufacturing.
- Report unexpected issues and delays and bring forward ideas and options for resolution.
- Understand and follow all relevant New Flyer policies and procedures.
- Participate in the daily communication huddle.
Requirements
- Previous employment with maintenance responsibilities and experience is preferred
- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Experience working as an effective team player
- Have knowledge and experience to be able to handle unusual job events and the ability to deviate from accepted practice if needed.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, schematics and manuals.
- Knowledge of Control Devices, Motors, PLC’s, VFD’s and Soft Starts.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems (troubleshoot, replace components, change belts and filters).
- Have completed basic building/construction jobs (building walls, door repair, painting, lighting, etc.).
- Have basic plumbing skills (installed copper and PVC lines, rebuilt facets and control valves, unplugged toilets and drains, etc.).
- Have completed projects by identifying problems, designing solutions, building and implementation, including metal projects using metal working equipment.
- Must have a high level of mechanical aptitude and be multitalented.
- Must possess good written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work independently and with company personnel and vendors.
