The Behavioral Health Professional - Training Liaison executes the learning and development priorities for New Freedom’s clinical training needs. The position is responsible for developing, scheduling, and conducting group and/or one-on-one training, for both virtual and classroom settings. At times it is necessary to conduct classes with virtual participants, both face-to-face and virtually; virtual facilitation and technical skills are required for this reason. Training will be developed and delivered for both newly hired and existing staff on clinical oversight topics, group facilitation skills, clinical documentation, EMR uses and reporting, Behavioral Health paraprofessional supervision and development, medical necessity, and other relevant topics. The BHP – Training Liaison collaborates with department leaders to identify, prioritize, and respond to training needs of member facing staff. The position will also include additional departmental responsibilities and tasks, such as the learning management system administrator, training material development and maintenance, audit and completion reports, and special projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains subject matter expertise with group facilitation skills, clinical oversight topics, clinical documentation, and clinical care management processes.
- Completes multiple weekly clinical oversight meetings to meet scheduling needs of multiple departments.
- Completes monthly Behavioral Health Para-Professional (BHPP) supervision meetings and conducts regular review of documentation.
- Provides classroom and/or one-on-one instruction for new employee documentation, EMR utilization, and clinical care management processes.
- Provides instruction for newly hired clinical staff, staff being cross-trained for specific clinical operations, and sustainment training for existing clinical staff, including but not limited to:
- Group facilitation
- Curriculum changes
- Documentation
- Safety-Care
- Utilizes a variety of learning interventions in response to individual learning styles.
- Collaborates with clinical operations, IT Project Management, Human Resources, and other stakeholders to work on projects, influence change management, drive training strategy and coordinate project implementation.
- Serves as an advocate for learning and change-management initiatives in project planning meetings, and effectively communicates project plans, milestones, and training strategies on an ongoing basis.
- Leads and/or co-leads the overall design, development, and delivery of clinical and other learning products/services/interventions, including specific needs analysis, learning outcomes definition, structure and design of learning product, implementation plan, communication with relevant stakeholders, and follow-up evaluations to demonstrate learning transfer.
- Leads and/or supports business/systems migrations and new office openings by developing training plans, agendas/schedules, developing/customizing content, delivering training, and special projects.
- Participates with member facing department management teams to develop and implement clinical services and training strategies that address any/all performance gaps.
- Analyzes performance and develops, in consultation with clinical and quality management, improvements in clinical processes.
- Works with quality management in preparing materials for clinical documentation audits and accreditation visits to appropriately reflect adherence to policies and procedures and improvements in work processes.
- Attends monthly and quarterly documentation audits.
- In conjunction with the Quality and Compliance department, researches, develops, and maintains manuals and documentation of procedures, training program and support materials, and training/job aids, also assisting with preparation of materials for review and audit, as needed.
- Designs and develops appropriate and effective instructional materials and content in collaboration with other learning partners in various departments.
- Conducts developmental and refresher training for existing clinical staff to implement process changes, correct deficiencies, and improve individual performance.
- Effectively partners with Human Resources to utilize New Freedom’s Learning Management System (Relias) to share training resources and information, training materials, track training activity and compliance, report on progress, and support enterprise learning strategy.

Experience
Required- Independently Licensed Professional (in Arizona): LCSW, LPC, or LIAC required
- 3 year(s): Experience in managed clinical care, formal training design, and/or facilitation and coaching experience required
- 3 year(s): Experience post-degree in psychiatric and/or substance abuse health care setting, including utilization review required
- A demonstrated understanding of managed care/healthcare operations required
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage competing priorities, with strong time management skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment required
- Demonstrated understanding of training concepts and principles of adult learning, with strong facilitation and classroom management skills required
- Demonstrated ability to convert abstract ideas into concrete solutions, and the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical customers/learners
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to provide topic clarity to all levels of learners
- Excellent training documentation skills, including manuals, job aids and facilitator/learner materials
- Excellent organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills required
- Effectively demonstrates versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
- Effectively collaborates and works within a team, while also effectively demonstrating the ability to take initiative and work well individually; strong interpersonal skills
- Prior clinical supervision experience is preferred
