The Fitness Trainer - Health & Wellness Teacher works with members through participation in health and wellness living skills and physical exercise, focused on the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, environmental, and social aspects of wellness. The Health & Wellness Teacher helps support members in all areas of a person’s overall health and vitality, helping to teach members practical life skills and useful self-care practices to incorporate into their daily life. The Health & Wellness Teacher assists members through physical exercise and education, how to maximize the members’ ability to live a healthy lifestyle, participate in the community, and to function independently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily fitness group classes and/or Health & Wellness classes, providing physical exercise and wellness strategies, skills, training, and guidance to members and staff
- Complete setup and breakdown for groups/classes each day, as applicable
- Track attendance and completion accurately and thoroughly, ensuring any/all group excusals are thoroughly researched
- Submit billing and documentation notes into KIPU system, describing activity and ensuring the correct note formats, correct times, etc.
- Continue learning and implementing new exercises, techniques, or curriculum provided by leadership
- Engage and encourage member participation, to aide in the prevention of self-isolation as well as to ensure a safe, healthy, and fun environment for members
- Attend team meetings and individual or group supervisions, to ensure continued growth and development of overall performance, skills, and techniques
- Maintain class, group, and/or individual member attention at all times, actively engaging the member(s) in an appropriate, professional, and inviting manner
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for all
- Review physical exercise and wellness plans respective to each member on the caseload, effectively staying aligned with individual treatment plans and goals
- Effectively meets any/all outlined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring the highest quality and level of member care and engagement is provided
- Receives and actively engages in clinical supervision and oversight each week/month based on BHPP/BHT designation requirements, including completion of all continuing education requirements, as required
- In addition, all other duties as assigned

Experience
Required- Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and critical thinking and problem-solving skills required
- Effectively demonstrates versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
- Effectively collaborates and works within a team, while also effectively demonstrating the ability to take initiative and work well individually
- 2 year(s): Behavioral Health Technician designation required (2 years behavioral health work experience and/or higher education)
- Two (2) to three (3) years of experience as a life coach required
- Firsthand lived experience with mental health, substance abuse, and/or incarceration are required
Education
Required- High School or better in General Studies or related field
- HS Equivalency or better
- Associates or better in Exercise Science or related field
- Bachelors or better in Exercise Science or related field
- Masters or better in Exercise Science or related field
