Job Description:
The successful candidate must be interested in a small company environment where they will be exposed to many aspects of the process, including investment research, portfolio management and implementation, investment operation, performance reporting, and investment education. They will work closely with accomplished investment professionals to support the institutional research, consulting, and asset management process. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in portfolio management. This is an entry-level position for someone with 1-3 years of experience.
Investment Research:
- Conduct empirical financial and economic research using statistical and programming skills to enhance the investment process and propose actionable solutions for portfolio management
- Contribute to consulting projects and white papers as needed
Portfolio Management and Implementation:
· Conduct ETF due diligence, including identifying new opportunities and monitoring existing ETFs for potential replacement.
· Utilize our patented asset allocation software
· Participate in weekly investment committee meetings to review market trends and analyze emerging risks for portfolio management
Investment Operations:
- Update investment strategies with new market information
- Support operations around portfolio rebalancing
- Manage daily account activities and trading
- Propose tax transition analyses and manage tax trading for High-Net-Worth clients when needed
- Assist with best execution practices and adhere to compliance-required procedures
Performance Reporting:
- Handle investment performance data every month
- Document performance calculations and reporting procedures
- Maintain and update performance databases.
- Collaborate with the technology team to improve the process.
Investment Education:
- Prepare and contribute to bi-weekly investment updates, quarterly commentaries, and webinars
- Provide performance analysis and client-friendly presentations
Required Skills and Qualities:
- Strong quantitative abilities
- Programming experience implementing statistical techniques in Matlab, R, or Python
- Familiarity with other scripting and programming languages
- Proficiency with Excel and financial databases (e.g. Bloomberg)
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills to produce high-quality, independent research
- Genuine interest in finance and investment, with a drive to learn and grow in this field
- Adaptability and willingness to take on diverse responsibilities in a dynamic environment
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, with a positive attitude and ability to work well with others
- Attention to detail and proficiency in accurate documentation
- Strong communication and writing skills:
- Ability to explain complex quantitative concepts clearly
- Capacity to understand financial and business contexts, adapting communication to different audiences
Education:
B.A./B.S. or higher in a quantitative discipline (Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Financial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science) from a top-tier university.
