Purpose
The Shift Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our cannabis dispensary. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the store, from compliance and customer service to team leadership and reporting.
Core Responsibilities
- Assign tasks and provide clear instructions to team members.
- Provide coaching and feedback to help team members grow and develop.
- Promote, reward and discipline staff in compliance with applicable company policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in recruiting, hiring, and training new employees.
- Direct employees in all areas of compliance, customer service and performance.
- Responsible for opening and closing the store.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management.
Operational Efficiency and Quality Control
- Ensure strict adherence to state regulations and company policies regarding cannabis product distribution, labeling, inventory control, and cash handling.
- Monitor equipment and supplies; identify and rectify any issues with equipment, facility, or inventory levels to ensure smooth operations.
- Address and resolve quality issues and customer requests/issues efficiently with the objective of a positive resolution.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and maintain accurate records.
- Enforce safety protocols for both customers and staff.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked dispensary environment.
Training and Development
- Train new and existing team members on procedures and standards: Guide them trough tasks, answer questions, and assist and provide solutions for their success.
- Provide regular opportunities to team members for new work assignments and duties to help in their career development.
- Train staff on any new regulations or policies.
Administrative
- Prepare daily sales reports and analyze sales data to identify trends and optimize operations.
- Address inventory discrepancies and resolve any issues promptly.
- Prepare bank deposits and complete administrative tasks.
- Ensure that monthly, daily and weekly physical inventories are completed, and records are properly retained.
Additional Responsibilities
- Implement new work procedures to improve efficiency, quality and customer service.
- Update and maintain store pricing records and policies.
- Maintain promotional items and ensure team members are aware of the promotions and any special selling initiatives.
- Provide feedback to management of new products, slow moving inventory and other opportunities to improve operational results.
- Adjust staffing levels based upon the current activity in the store.
- Consult and educate customers on new product offerings and specials.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years previous retail supervisory experience.
- Prior experience and competency with point-of-sale software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Must be 21 years of age and able to pass state requirements for working in a cannabis operation.
- Strong understanding of cannabis regulations and compliance requirements

Supervisory
This position will be directly involved in hiring, promoting, and discipline (including termination of staff).
Work Environment
Position operates in a professional retail store environment. Position routinely has to use standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly expected to talk and listen. Position requires standing, walking, use of hands, reaching and the ability to lift a maximum of 40 pounds. Ability to climb ladders to reach products on higher shelves.
Position Type and Hours of Work
This position is full time. Position hours are variable and based upon the hours of the store operation and business conditions. Weekend work is required of the position.
Travel
This position does not require travel.
