The State of New Hampshire, Department of Health and Human Services, and New Hampshire Hospital has a Part-Time vacancy for Food Service Workers II.
Summary: Performs a variety of duties in and around New Hampshire Hospital or Brown Building Cafeteria with primary responsibility in preparation and distribution of food.
Minimum Qualifications:
Food Service Worker II:
Education: Completion of an eighth-grade education or its equivalent. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Six months experience as a waiter, waitress, dining room attendant or food service worker.
License/Certification: None required.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in preparation of food including fruits and vegetables. Makes beverages such as coffee and tea. Assists in the distribution of food.
- Prepares trays of food for distribution. Writes labels on items to ensure delivery to proper unit and patient, according to established departmental procedures. Delivers food carts to proper units within the hospital.
- Cleans and sanitizes work areas and eating areas; cleans serving, cooking utensils and equipment.
- Demonstrates knowledge of safe use of work area equipment. Operates machinery appropriate to work area, reports breakdowns to supervisor; makes simple repairs as directed. Cleans and maintains all equipment used.
- Stores food in refrigerator and freezer. Stocks area with supplies.
- Mentors' new employees, paying particular attention to procedures used and safety regulations.
- Removes waste from work area and disposes of in prescribed manner. Follows appropriate safety and/or health standards.
Staff Workplace Safety Accountabilities
Complies with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures by:
- Performing accountabilities in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Communicating with supervisor's regarding issues related to workplace safety (i.e., ergonomics, body mechanics, environment, equipment, etc...)
- Reporting on the job injuries to supervisor IMMEDIATELY.
- Attending training programs, as appropriate.

Participates in the process of continuous quality improvement by supporting unit/department-based quality improvement activities. Demonstrates commitment to customer service values in professional conduct and by promoting such values in assigned work area.
