The New Hampshire Retirement System (NHRS) is seeking an experienced, motivated, and detail-oriented Director of Communication and Legislative Affairs. This key leadership role will drive NHRS’s communication and legislative initiatives to ensure clear, timely, and effective engagement with members, retirees, employers, legislators, and the public.
Key Responsibilities:
- Track and analyze legislation impacting NHRS and advise Executive Management and the Board of Trustees on legislative strategies and communication.
- Lead public information efforts, developing communications across platforms (brochures, newsletters, website content, news releases, etc.) to keep stakeholders informed on current and proposed benefit provisions.
- Plan and oversee member and employer education programs, media relations, and public presentations.
- Act as a liaison and spokesperson with legislators, media, unions, employers, and other stakeholders, delivering factual and unbiased information.
- Manage website content and oversee social media strategy to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reach.
- Support NHRS crisis management and strategic planning initiatives, collaborating with executive leadership and other NHRS teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field.
- Minimum of seven years’ experience in journalism, public relations, legislative relations, or similar fields.
- Strong communication, organizational, and supervisory skills with a proven ability to build relationships and manage high-impact communication strategies.
Salary : $100,000 - $125,000
