What are the responsibilities and job description for the Casual Part Time Library Courier position at New Hanover County?
New Hanover County Public Library seeks a part-time Library Courier to fulfill customer requests and support the work of county departments by moving materials between our four library locations and transporting materials to and from county offices.
Essential Duties
- Makes customer service a priority, delivering materials quickly and courteously
- Safely transports materials using a county van
- Obeys traffic regulations and practice defensive driving
- Moves heavy bins in and out of buildings with dollies and hand trucks
- Loads courier van several times per day, maximizing space and minimizing wear and tear
- Adheres to a schedule to visit library and county facilities, driving 70 miles or more per shift

The current opening is for one day a week, Mondays, with occasional substitute days. The shift typically runs from 7:30 a.m. until 1:30 or 2:00 p.m.

Salary Information:
The salary for this position is $17.00/hour.

- Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds
- Able to bend, stoop and reach
- Capable of pulling and pushing a loaded cart with up to 50 pounds of force.
- Valid Driver's License (from any state) and good driving record required at time of application.
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License required by first date of employment with good driving record
