Summary of Responsibilities:
The Peer Support Specialist is responsible for the providing service and clinical support to clients. The Peer Support Specialist provides quality clients service, and supports the clinical team in providing a multidisciplinary approach to treatment.
Job Description:
· Assist with admission and discharge process, including completion of related documentation (orientation, contraband, and clients’ personal belongings).
· Support attendance function and contacts families and clients concerning attendance.
· Guides and supervises clients to and from groups and activities.
· Sets appointments for clients with outside referral sources.
· Administer urinalysis drug screenings according to company policies and procedures.
· Supervises clients with emphasis on safety and well-being, reminding clients of program rules and reporting infractions appropriately.
· Understands the need for appropriate client/staff boundaries and maintains a strict therapeutic relationship during active treatment. Discontinues communication with clients upon discharge and informs supervisor of client contact after discharge.
· Runs errands as assigned making efficient use of time and conscientiously completing all tasks.
· Provides empathic, supportive approach to all client interactions by acting as a sounding board for the individual. Confrontation is not used; employs de-escalation techniques.
· Supports NHBH mission by completing related results as needed.
· Supports clients by sharing experience, as appropriate and relevant.
· Contributes to the care, treatment and services of the client through communication and contribution to the treatment team’s effort in supporting client care.
· Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and completing all required initial and annual Continuing Education Units.
· Adheres to all company policies and safety rules, guidelines & procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
· High School Degree or equivalent.
· Specific training in child and teen development, including a minimum of five college credit hours in courses related to the topic.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
