Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Food Service Director to lead and manage the daily food service operations at our Skilled Nursing Facility. The Food Service Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of food preparation, staff management, and compliance with food safety regulations, while ensuring that residents receive nutritious and appetizing meals. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a passion for senior care, and experience in managing food services in a healthcare or long-term care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and direct food service operations, ensuring the provision of nutritious and well-balanced meals to residents.
Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring that all food service employees adhere to food safety, sanitation, and safety procedures.
Develop and manage menus that accommodate the dietary needs of residents, including special diets, cultural preferences, and nutrition requirements.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to food safety, sanitation, and nutrition.
Maintain inventory of food and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and minimizing waste.
Work closely with nursing and dietary teams to monitor resident preferences, allergies, and dietary needs.
Develop and implement cost-effective strategies to maintain budgetary goals while maintaining high food quality standards.
Manage food service-related reports, including budgeting, financials, and staffing.
Conduct regular inspections of food service areas to ensure cleanliness and adherence to safety standards.
Coordinate with outside vendors and suppliers to ensure timely and quality deliveries.
Foster a positive and team-oriented work environment that supports the professional development of staff.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of experience in food service management, preferably in a healthcare or skilled nursing facility setting.

Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and dietary requirements for elderly populations.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage a team, prioritize tasks, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with budgeting and cost control in food services.
Certification in Food Safety (ServSafe or equivalent) preferred.
Knowledge of therapeutic diets, including low-sodium, low-sugar, and texture-modified diets.
