As a Youth Mentor at New Haven, you’ll step into a role that is as rewarding as it is impactful. This position is more than just a job—it’s an opportunity to play a vital role in helping young women grow, heal, and thrive.
Your daily responsibilities include fostering the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our students. From cultural outings and culinary projects to outdoor adventures and creative activities, you’ll engage with teens in ways that build trust, inspire growth, and promote personal development. Your primary role is to ensure their safety and well-being while creating an environment where they feel valued and supported.
Work Schedule
We understand the importance of work-life balance and offer structured yet flexible schedules for our Youth Mentors:
- Weekly Hours: A minimum of 24 hours per week, with the option to work up to 30 hours if desired.
- Sunday Shifts: Mentors work at least two Sundays per month.
- Shift Options:
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 7:00 am–3:00 pm or 3:00 pm–11:00 pm
- Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday: 7:00 am–3:00 pm or 3:00 pm–11:00 pm
For those in the On-Call Youth Mentor role, flexibility is key. You can sign up for shifts that suit your schedule while still meeting the 24-hour weekly requirement. On-call mentors are not expected to be available 24/7.
Responsibilities
- Minor Food Prep: Contribute to meal preparation while promoting healthy eating habits.
- Group Participation: Attend and engage in group sessions with students, fostering a sense of community.
- Safety First: Maintain a safe environment, ensuring the well-being of our students.
- Boundary Maintenance: Uphold professional boundaries while building trust and rapport.
- Therapeutic Support: Collaborate with therapists to implement interventions aligned with each teen's treatment plan.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 21 years old or older
- Current driver's license and a good driving record
- Ability to pass a Utah State background check
- Must be willing to make a 8-month minimum commitment
- Willing to get Food Handlers Permit before first day of work
