What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Assistant Teacher position at New Hope Christian Academy?
Responsibilities:
- Assist in creating and maintaining a classroom culture that is safe, warm, friendly, and full of joy,
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children in the program through active supervision,
- Support the lead teacher in implementing curriculum, lessons, and activities, assessing student
- Deliver whole-group math instruction as well as focused small-group instruction.
- Fully utilize our urban farm and forest through creative activities and weekly visits.
- Foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills in the classroom
- Demonstrate a commitment to being a team player, effectively collaborating with the grade level
team, other early childhood faculty, and administration
- Holds high expectations for every student and faithfully works to foster student development
and achievement
- Possess knowledge of play-based learning, the Tennessee Early Learning Developmental
Standards, and social and emotional development in early childhood
- Actively engage as a member of the school community through attending events, staff meetings,
discipleship, and other opportunities as they arise
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Early Childhood or the lead teacher
Qualifications & Attributes:
- Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be committed to Christ-centered education.
- Have a love for working with and building relationships with children and their families.
- Loyal and supportive of the unique mission, vision, and values of NHCA
- Must be 21 years old or older
- High school diploma required, associate degree or bachelor’s degree preferred, CDA or
willingness to obtain CDA, with some teaching experience in a formal setting
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid or willingness to obtain certification
- Must be physically and mentally able to perform the responsibilities and duties of the position
- Humble, honest, highly relational, approachable, genuine and attuned to others needs
- Eager and committed to spiritual, personal, and professional growth
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented and organized, with high workplace standards
