Description

The main goal of the 'Beginning Kids Coach' is to teach gymnastics techniques that are consistent with New Hope Gymnastics' and its mission, vision, and values. This means being fun, loving, and enthusiastic with every student and parent. Each 'Beginning Kids Coach' should know how to run a class from start to finish, know all basic gymnastics techniques, and be able to communicate with children and parents about their child's progress. Each 'Beginning Kids Coach' should know how to teach gymnastics skills, encourage a fun environment, and develop skills and drills to ensuring every child remains active throughout the class.

A 'Beginning Kids Coach's' goal for each student should be to perfectly balance skill, exhaustion, and fun. Each coach should be capable of teaching every skill on the New Hope Gymnastics' 'Girls Skill Chart,' have the discipline to control a class, and follow all administrative policies that apply to the 'Beginning Kids Coach' position.

Requirements :

Passing of the 'Basic Kids Technique Test'
1 hour sexual harassment course
2 hour 'New Hope Gymnastics Orientation' video training
4 hour 'New Hope Gymnastics Event Skill' video training
2 hours of individual training with an 'Advanced Kids Coach' or 'Kids Program Director'
Every 'Beginning Kids Coach' is required to know all current :
New Hope Kids Warm Up'
New Hope Stretch Order'
New Hope Positions'
Girl's Event Skills'
Girl's Event Routines'
Every 'Beginning Kids Coach' is required to have completed 12 total hours of shadowing with a 'Intermediate Coach,' 'Advanced Kids Coach,' or program director. There must be a minimum of 8 hours completed by following a coach and 4 hours completed by leading the class with the coach an assistant.
For the safety of the kids every 'Beginning Kids Coach' must have the physicality to lift kids ages 4-11
Every 'Beginning Kids Coach' must be fun and enthusiastic
For the safety of the kids and yourself you must have the ability to be free of all jewelry that can be easily snagged during coaching

Responsibilities :

Teach gymnastics in the "New Hope" way

This is done by knowing and teaching from the 'Kid's Techniques Handbook'

The 'New Hope Kids Warm Up' must be used to familiarize the kids with a consistent routine for every class. Incase of technical difficulties, it is acceptable to divide the large group into your designated class and warm up each class individually.

The 'New Hope Stretch Order' must be used for every stretch to ensure consistency and familiarity

The 'New Hope Positions' must be reinforced everyday in order to create a fundamental gymnastics foundation

The 'Girl's Event Skills' are taught in every level and every class to ensure a consistent learning experience throughout the program

Girl's Event Routines' are taught to reveal progress in the students

You are responsible for engraining discipline by maintaining and confining a class of students within the gym

Interact with children and parents on a regular basis

Parent interaction is done by meeting the parents eye to eye

At least 5 min before every class you must be looking and be available to meet parents and children in the hallway or below the gym doorway

At least 5 min after every class you must be available to meet with parents and children on a regular basis

This is where you must update parents on their child's progress or complaints about their behavior

While you are 'on the clock' and not on a 'rest break' or 'meal break' you are responsible for being available to do basic upkeep of the gym facility. This includes, but is not limited to, assuring every mat is put back to its designated area, making the bathrooms are clean, making sure the lobby is free of debris, making sure the employee rest area is clean.

If all other obligations are fulfilled small breaks are permissible in the employee designated rest areas or other facility area. However, leaving the facility for any reason requires supervisor permission.
