What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at New Horizon Family Health Services?
- Maintains cleanliness of restrooms and assures the availability of soap, hand towels, toilet and facial tissue, etc.
- On a daily basis, disinfects medical treatment rooms in strict accordance with established guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Responds immediately to request for clean-up/environmental assistance.
- Assists in maintaining adequate stock control of departmental supplies.
- Completes heavy mopping, stripping, and waxing of halls and bathroom facilities as needed.
- Completes detailed cleaning of medical treatment rooms and work areas as needed.
- Empties waste receptacles and changes receptacle bags on a daily basis.
- Follows OSHA guidelines for cleaning patient care areas, laboratory and other areas of the facility.
- Follows OSHA guidelines for handling infectious waste and hazardous material.
- Observes schedule for work, breaks, and lunch.
- Must hold all patient Protected Health Information (PHI) other patient personal information and agency information in confidence, in accordance with the attached Employee Confidentiality Statement, which I have read, understand and signed.
- Actively participates in and complies with all aspects of the NHFHS Corporate compliance Program, follow the Program Code of Conduct and obey all relevant laws, statutes, regulations and requirements applicable to Medicaid, Medicare and other State and Federal health care programs.
- Participates in CQI, other internal committees, special projects/observances or activities that promote improvements in organizational performance and/or advance the mission, goals, and objectives of New Horizon Family Health Services.
- Performs other duties which may be assigned by the supervisor, CEO, or their designee.
- High School graduate or GED preferred
- Minimum of six (6) months experience as a Housekeeper/Custodian.
- Must be familiar with infectious waste disposal procedures.
- Must be capable of understanding and carrying out routine instructions.
- Must be able to read and understand safety/chemical labels and safety data sheets.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule as work hours may not always be uniformed or prescribed.
- Must be familiar with operating various cleaning equipment (i.e.: vacuum cleaners, buffers)
- Must have the physical capacity to perform required tasks.
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
- Must have pleasant personality; must be dependable.
