What are the responsibilities and job description for the (DON) Nursing and Clinical Support Services Director position at New Horizon Family Health Services?
- Establishes and updates Nursing processes that delineate the functional structure of the Nursing Section of the Clinical Department (purpose, goals, objectives, policies.)
- Develops, and implements, protocols and procedures for the Nursing Section of the Clinical Department.
- Works continually to assure deliverance of quality Nursing care (safe, efficient, competent and effective.)
- Contributes input to development of nursing personnel budget.
- Acquires and allocates human and material resources as required for execution of nursing tasks.
- Directs and delegates management of professional and paraprofessional Nursing personnel.
- Creates and maintains a positive work environment for the benefit of patients and staff.
- Assures appropriate supervision of personnel to assure progressive development and productive performance. Evaluates job performance of Nursing personnel in accordance with NHFHS personnel policies.
- Evaluates Nursing operation and goal attainment and provides for planned changes to attain/maintain Patient Centered Medical Home recognition.
- Works with the Quality Management Director to maintain Patient Centered Medical Home status.
- Provides oversight supervision and support to the Care Management Supervisor and Care Management Program Team.
- Coordinates Nursing program planning, develops standing orders and Nursing procedures with the input of the VP Clinical Services, Chief Medical Officer.
- Coordinates internal and external training for Medical and Dental support staff.
- Collects information and prepares/presents required reports.
- Conducts regular Quality Assurance audits and case reviews with the appropriate staff and maintains follow-up records including Infection Control
- Participates in planning processes with other community agencies, professionals and staff to provide and coordinate effective health service delivery.
- Maintains good public (working) relations throughout the community.
- Continually work toward enhancing and improving the image and quality of nursing throughout the organization.
- Participates in the formulation of agency goals, policies, and procedures.
- Participates in analysis and addressing quality assurance issues.
- Provides direct patient care by completing nursing patient intake at least 4 hours per month
- Provides additional support and is scheduled as backup coverage for clinical nursing staff as required
- EDUCATION:
- REQUIRED:
- Current licensure by South Carolina State Board of Nursing
- BS from an accredited school of nursing or a Master’s Degree in Nursing
- or: an LPN with minimum of five (5) years supervisory/administrative experience
- EXPERIENCE:
- REQUIRED:
- At least three (3) years of community nursing experience and
- a minimum of five (5) years of administrative/ management/supervisory experience
- Must hold all patient Protected Health Information (PHI) other patient personal information and agency information in confidence, in accordance with the attached Employee Confidentiality Statement.
- Must Possess strong administrative management and leadership ability in addition to basic (practical) knowledge of the practice of professional nursing.
- Must be able to work well with the medical staff, nursing service personnel, and all other departments within the agency as well as the community.
- Must have a working knowledge of computer programs and professional construction of emails
- Actively participates in and complies with all aspects of the NHFHS Corporate Compliance Program, follows the Program Code of Conduct and obeys all relevant laws, statutes, regulations and requirements applicable to Medicaid, Medicare and other State and Federal healthcare programs.
- Must demonstrate clear and readable handwriting, exceptional spelling proficiency, and must speak clearly with grammatical accuracy.
- Exercises sound judgment, discretion, and critical thinking in decision-making.
