Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Practice Manager, this position is primarily responsible for providing interpretation for the Hispanic/Latino population presenting to NHFHS for services. The Medical Interpreter will also be responsible for assisting front desk and/or scheduling personnel when time permits. Assists with translation of written materials.
DUTIES PERFORMED
Qualifications
Education
A minimum of high school diploma or equivalent and has obtained certification as an interpreter/translator and HOLDS a certificate acceptable to NHFHS.
Must be certified by a national medical interpretation association.

DUTIES PERFORMED
- Must be certified by an accredited institution.
- Provides accurate interpreting (spoken) and translation (written), for those patients requiring these services.
- Assists in translating forms (i.e. Patient Rights and Responsibilities, Consent to Treat, Release of Information, Privacy Act, etc.) for use at all NHFHS service locations.
- Serves as support and resource person for Front Desk and/or Scheduling personnel.
- Demonstrates the ability to establish and maintain effective, productive relations with co-workers, supervisors, patients, and the public.
- Displays flexibility as patient flow changes.
- Attends all in-service training as required.
- Maintains a neat/well-organized work area.
- Observes schedule for work, lunch and breaks.
- Must hold all patient Protected Health Information (PHI) other patient personal information and agency information in confidence, in accordance with the attached Employee Confidentiality Statement.
- Actively participate in and comply with all aspects of the NHFHS Corporate Compliance Program, follow the Program Code of Conduct and obey all relevant laws, statutes, regulations and requirements applicable to Medicaid, Medicare and other State and Federal health care programs.
- Participates in CQI, other internal committees, special projects/observances or activities that promote improvements in organizational performance and/or advance the mission, goals, and objectives of New Horizon Family Health Services.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the supervisor, CEO or designee in their absence.
