Location: Norwalk, OH
Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accounting Assistant to join our dynamic accounting team. This position will primarily focus on assisting with accounts receivable duties, while also providing crucial support to our Inventory Data Specialist. This is an excellent opportunity for a new graduate or someone with some experience in accounting to gain hands-on experience in both financial and inventory management processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Receivable Support:
- Assist with processing and posting customer invoices accurately and promptly.
- Track and monitor outstanding receivables, ensuring that overdue accounts are followed up and payments are collected.
- Maintain and update customer accounts in the accounting system.
- Assist with monthly and year-end closing related to accounts receivable.
- Generate and reconcile aging reports, ensuring discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
- Prepare and process credit memos and refunds as necessary.
- Inventory Data Specialist Support:
- Assist the Inventory Data Specialist in tracking and recording inventory movements and valuations.
- Help reconcile physical inventory counts with system data, ensuring accurate reporting.
- Assist in data entry and updating inventory records, including raw materials and finished goods.
- Support in preparing inventory-related reports and cost analysis.
- Help identify discrepancies between actual inventory levels and recorded data and assist in resolution.
- General Accounting:
- Assist with general ledger maintenance and the preparation of journal entries.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Assist in preparing documentation for audits, ensuring compliance with internal controls and policies.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Prefer a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or currently pursuing a degree).
- Experience:
- 1 years of accounting experience preferred, with exposure to accounts receivable or inventory management; or relevant coursework/internships.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Basic understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas) and accounting software (e.g., Syspro, QuickBooks or similar systems).
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to reconcile data accurately.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
