POSITION : Behavior Specialist (RBT)
Primary Function : The Behavior Specialist will have a Registered Behavior Technician certification in good standing with the BACB. The ideal candidate for this position is an RBT with 2 or more semesters completed in an ABA graduate program; or have already completed their graduate program in Applied Behavior Analysis and is pursuing the BCaBA or BCBA certifications. This ideal candidate will be able to consistently and tactfully provide and receive constructive feedback, and utilize the feedback for professional growth. This ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics : humble, self-motivated, can work independently and with a team, exhibit superior active listening and communication skills that will demonstrate consistent initiative and productivity. This candidate will be required to maintain a caseload of 10 individuals and provide behavioral support services across day habilitation, residential, in-home, supported employment and community-based settings. The Behavior Specialist works under the guidance and close supervision of a BCBA supervisor and is required to participate in regularly scheduled supervision sessions (during and outside of scheduled work hours. The standard work schedule will be 8 : 30am – 4 : 30pm Mon-Fri. Evening and weekend hours are scheduled on an as needed basis. Flexibility in scheduling may be required based on the needs of the individuals and the programs in which services are being provided to. If services are provided outside the standard work schedule, time may be flexed accordingly.
REPORTS TO : Director of Clinical Services
Essential Functions :
- Demonstrate consistent professional and ethical behavior aligned with the behavior analyst profession that is in accordance with the BACB Professional and Ethical Compliance Code that will serve as the model for professional behavior for staff within the organization.
- Administer Skill Acquisition assessments including VB MAPP, FISH, Essential for Living, Preference Assessments, Assessment of Functional Living Skills.
- Conduct Functional Assessment of challenging behaviors : Functional Behavior Assessments and Functional Analysis.
- Develop supported employment programming as needed.
- Design, implement, and train all stakeholders in data collection methods, skill acquisition programing, behavior support plans, behavior strategies etc. for each individual assigned to your caseload.
- Assist in conducting intake assessments for prospective clients.
- Review and modify behavior support plans according to data.
- Complete all reports and assessments within a timely manner and meet ongoing deadlines.
- Facilitate Natural Environment Training when appropriate.
- Directly observe programs, implementation administered by RBTs, Direct Support Staff, etc.
- Review support staff’s documentation and data collection and provide feedback as needed.
- Complete consultation notes at each consultation and record / upload into individual’s file.
- Complete behavior support service logs for billing.
- Collaborate with members of Interdisciplinary Team, individually and in conference, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate individual information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs and services.
- Provide scheduled consultations face to face or via tele-heath with individual and support staff, review data, update program and model techniques for support staff when necessary.
- Lead behavior support staff meetings in-services, professional development workshops and trainings as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Communicate through email regularly.
- Provide services based on the needs of the individuals (this may require flexible scheduling).
- Receive ongoing supervision by an approved clinical supervisor as outlined in the NHIA Supervision Contract.
- Attend all clinical and company related events as indicated by the Director of Clinical Services.

All NHIA staff will be required to cooperate with the licensee, Department of Human Service (DHS) staff in any inspection or investigation. DCP staff must also work in collaboration with NHIA’s fact-finding internal investigators.
