Custodian

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Performs routine, manual work involving moderate to heavy cleaning of designated areas of two child care buildings with classrooms, offices, restrooms, kitchen and hallways.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Sweep, mop, and vacuum all designated areas
• Vacuum and shampoo carpet: remove spots and stains from carpets as need
• Clean restroom floors, walls, sinks, urinals and commodes, replace toilet paper, towels and soap, wash and polish fixtures; clean windows and mirrors
• Clean and sanitize kitchen countertops and fixtures, and floors
• Remove paper, trash, and garbage from assigned areas and place in proper containers for disposal
• Operate custodial equipment such as vacuum cleaners, shampoo machines, mops and brooms
• Patrol grounds around building; pick-up paper, cans, trash and debris; clean walkways
• Adhere to the centers safety policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Must be able to perform the essential functions of walking and lifting up to 15lb, repetitive hand motions; frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pulling and pushing; move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment; prolonged use of computer terminal possible; district and state travel may or may not be required; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; possible biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification: High School diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Experience:

Preferred but not needed

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week

Schedule:

• 4 hour shift
• Afternoon shift
• Day shift
• Evening shift
• Monday to Friday
