Job Summary
As a member of the New Horizons Team, under the supervision of the Director of Housing Services, the Chaplain has a critical role in Youth and Young Adult driving youth participation through spiritual programming, outings, groups, and self-initiated activities. In addition to youth engagement initiatives, the Chaplain will provide Christian ecumenical spiritual care for staff, facilitate weekly staff prayer and develop further opportunities for staff to participate in dialogue, meditation, or conversation. The position requires availability during programmatic operating hours, some evening flexibility for outings, and further engagement. The chosen applicantwill be expected to affirm the central tenets of the Christian faith as expressed in the Nicene Creedupon hire.

Essential Job Duties (Total 20 hours per week)
YA Spiritual Programming (14 hours per week)
- Development/ Facilitation of Ecumenical Spiritual Programming
- Create/facilitate ecumenical spiritual services/groups for youth & young adults (YYA) weekly
- Facilitate monthly therapeutic/spiritually engaging field trips
- Create ongoing spiritual outlets for YA through building rapport. (Example: additional programming options or 1-1 conversations)
Staff Support (2 hours per week)
- Co-create and facilitate the Staff Support activities
- Develop a common, weekly gathering space for staff to share stories, reflect, pray and meditate.
- Facilitate Staff Support forums, conversations, and general spiritual support, as needed
External church partnerships (1-2 hours per week)
- Build rapport with external church partners and assist in the creation of programs that may arise.
- Administrative Duties (2 hours per week)
- Attend all required staff meetings (All Staff, Direct Services, 1:1 supervision and other supervisor requested meetings)
- Create and organize critical documents, records, and files
- In partnership with the Marketing Manager, create flyers, posters, signs, and other materials to internally and externally promote programs
- Facilitate appropriate communication to address cross-departmental needs
- Support fund development campaigns and events as needed
- Support the overall goals and mission of the Direct Service department and the organization
Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Experience in providing culturally responsive services and quality care for LGBTQ youth, youth of color, and those with disabilities
- Strong track record of applying the principles of Trauma Informed Care and Positive Youth Development
- Strong track record of applying Conflict De-escalation
- A history of successful collaboration among teams and willingness to initiate and lead tasks or projects
- Proficient with computers and technology including using Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint and Outlook)
- Knowledge or experience in designing and implementing youth focused, conversational faith-oriented discussions and experiences
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Bachelors degree in theology, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or another closely related field or two years of work experience
- Prior experience successfully working with youth experiencing homelessness, or otherwise high-risk youth as a youth counselor or similar capacity
- A growing personal commitment to community, Jesus and God's work in the world
- A valid Washington state Drivers license
Wage: $26.50 per hour, 20 hours per week
