What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD Technician Intern position at New Hudson Facades LLC?
Support others in the development of 2D technical drawings and 3D models in a custom curtainwall company. The CAD Technician Intern (CTI) is responsible for all aspects of the design process. The CTI will complete and manipulate base curtainwall system designs using CAD to complete project submittal documents and develop fabrication drawings and models from these submittal documents.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Work with Technical Project Manager and Engineers to create submittal details, plans, and elevations
- Create layout and tag drawings for installation
- Create fabrication drawings and models
- Generate Bill of Materials (BOMs) and material estimates
- Read and interpret project Architectural and Structural drawings
- Read and interpret project specifications
- Provide support to factory and field personnel as needed
- Follow best practice drafting and modeling standards
- Use education and company provided training to further develop required skills
- Additional items as needed by the design department
Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD required
- Working knowledge of 3D modeling software (Inventor/SolidWorks) required
- Strong general computer skills including working knowledge of email, MS Office, and similar software
- Strong spatial aptitude
- Ability to travel as required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Under supervision, performs technical work with CAD operation in various 2D and 3D capacities
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- May occasionally require lifting of office supplies and equipment.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- 0-2 yrs. Experience
- Currently enrolled in a 2- or 4-year degree program
