What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Director, Business Services position at New Jersey City University?
JOB SUMMARY :
Under the general direction of the AVP, plans and directs the administrative, operational and technology activities of the University’s Business Services Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Manage the Business Services Team which includes Accounts Payable, Procurement Services, Campus Bookstore, Auxiliary Services and Print and Mail / Delivery Services
- Organize team activities to ensure highest standard efficient departmental operations and service delivery.
- Develop, monitor, evaluate, and recommend improvement to business processes, procedures, work flow, and / or standards, ensuring alignment with the University mission, values, goals and objectives and local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Works closely with vendors on the NJCU campus to ensure they meet the required standards of service on campus.
- Prepare reports for the AVP for Business Services on progress and recommended changes in operations, policies, and processes.
- Supervises administrative services professional.
- Develop and implement strategic marketing plans and forecasts to achieve university objectives for products and services. Hires, evaluates, trains, disciplines and recommends dismissal of staff as necessary.
- Participate in / on a variety of meetings, committees, and / or other related groups to communicate information regarding programs, information resources, services, and / or other pertinent information as appropriate.
- Cultivates and manages relationships with key stakeholders.
- Serve as a liaison to internal departments within the University, students, and / or outside agencies, contractors and vendors to respond to inquiries and provide information on available resources and services.
- Advance departmental goals and objectives through strategic project management, customer surveys and educational campaigns and representation of service offerings, both internal and external.
- Provide leadership to the Business Services team in developing strategies and operational plans to better serve campus community.
- Review financial reports in conjunction with revenue fluctuations.
- Conduct research on best practices, to identify gaps, and develop recommendations for change accordingly.
- Advocate for innovative and creative approaches to better serve the customer as well as improving business processes.
- Represents and acts for the Associate Vice President of Business Services as required.
EDUCATION : Graduation from an accredited university with a Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the area of assignment or equivalent. Master's degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE : Four (4) to six (6) years significant professional experience in higher education or other field that is directly related to the functions of the position or equivalent
