JOB SUMMARY :
Under the direction of the Director, Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Operations & Systems position provided operational and systems support for the financial aid office processes across a variety of systems, tools and functions. The incumbent is expected to collaborate with IT staff to design new business processes as needed. Performs analysis, development, testing and documentation of computer systems and applications for financial aid purposes. Analyzes, researches, and resolves problems connected with financial aid systems.
- Serves as the functional lead for the Financial Aid module of the PeopleSoft Campus solutions software.
- Coordinate with Information technology on software upgrades and testing and validation.
- Perform the necessary table maintenance for the new award year.
- Trouble shoot any system issues and assist in the development of resolutions.
- Manage the processing of students ISIR, including corrections and verifications, and oversee staff responsible for accurate and timely data entry. This includes training the Financial Aid Office staff in the processing, disbursement, reconciliation, and maintenance of ISIR records, a well as developing and implementing procedures, reports, and queries to facilitate these actions for Federal Pell, FSEOG, Federal Direct Student Loans, and state grants.
- Assist with yearly Financial Aid audit reporting, reconciliation of various financial aid reports for the department of education, the scheduling of financial aid annual disbursement calendar.
- Assist in the yearly review of financial aid configurations and testing.
- Serves as liaison between Financial Aid staff, Office of Information Technology (IT), and consultants; communicate business and system needs to IT and consultants; ensure the design, configuration, and implementation of financial aid modules meets business and system requirements.
- Design, create and run reports to meet regulatory requirements; set up report definitions to ensure proper export / import of data. Ensure integration of the financial aid system with other system modules and external data systems by conducting comparative analysis and validation of the data.
- Consult on behalf of the financial aid staff and the college community on student financial aid systems, processing, and disbursements, and make recommendations regarding management tools, maintenance, record keeping, and related changes and processes.
- Represent the financial aid office at various meetings within the college and throughout the university.
- May require to work nights and weekends, within contractual limits.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS :
EDUCATION : Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE : Three (3) years of experience directly related to the functions of the position. Five (5) years of experience preferred. Experience with Peoplesoft Technology and Microsoft excel required. Fundamental understanding of administrative systems like PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Query creation, PUM. Ability to utilize federal and state electronic data interfaces and web based services : COS, CPS, SAIG, EDconnect, EDExpress, NSLDS, as well as Elm Online services. Strong orientation to customer service and excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
