As a Field Auditor in the Underwriting Department, you will conduct workers’ compensation insurance premium audits by reviewing employer records and inspecting employer operations to establish the appropriate premium basis and ensure proper classification. The completed audit will be evaluated against the insurer’s record with any discrepancies or inconsistencies addressed with the insurer. Your territory includes, but is not limited to, Northern New Jersey counties.

- Independently conduct field audits and inspections in accordance with the Test Audit program
- Produce comprehensive audit reports detailing the findings and ensuring adherence to the Manual rules for premium development
- Respond to audit inquiries from company management and communicate with insurers, accountants and employers to resolve audit discrepancies
- Travel frequently to employer locations for on-site audits, with in-office presence required once per month
- Provide weekly reports detailing completed work and associated travel reimbursement requests in accordance with established procedures
- Participate in company, industry and training meetings to stay informed on relevant policies, trends, and best practices
- Bachelor’s degree with major in business administration or accounting, or equivalent insurance industry field audit experience
- Strong aptitude for working with various payroll records, business ledgers, state and federal tax filing forms
- Ability to properly apply provisions of the NJCRIB Manual with respect to audit/inspection requirements
- Familiarity with NJCRIB Manual provisions relating to payrolls as the basis of premium
- Frequent driving, standing, walking, bending, reaching overhead, extension
- Frequent handling of paperwork and computer equipment
- Must be able to push/pull, open/close file cabinet/desk drawers
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to physically inspect property
- Must be able to travel as directed within New Jersey to perform audits/inspections
- Must have current driver's license and current automobile insurance
- This position requires use of your personal vehicle
- Mileage is reimbursed at current IRS rates
