SALARY: The salary range for this position is $44,326.42 to $67,134.41 for Schedule A, and $44,326.42 to $60,100.37 for Schedule B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater. Judiciary employees hired prior to August 21, 2014, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after August 21, 2014, are considered Schedule B.

Example of Duties
Under the general direction of the Court Executive 2B (Division Manager) and other managerial or supervisory personnel, this position is responsible for clerical and administrative support in the Division and performing specialized clerical work with the courtroom and judicial chambers to ensure a smooth and continuous operation. Specific duties will include, but not be limited to: establishing, maintaining, scheduling and closing cases of various docket types; answering routine questions; scheduling meetings; courtroom form preparation; operating video or audio recording equipment; swearing in of witnesses/litigants; maintaining trial exhibit evidence records; assisting with pre- trial conference and other hearings; facilitating transcripts by request; coding information or documents for entry into computer terminal; verifying records for accuracy, completeness or conformity; reviewing legal documents; verifying and/or validating authenticity of documents; Specific duties will include, but not be limited to: answering routine questions and interacting with the public; posting court fees and payments in various judiciary data bases; reviewing and verifying documents/filings for accuracy, completeness, and conformity with court rules; coding the documents/filings for entry into various judiciary data bases; explaining judiciary policies or procedures to court users/customers; reviewing records, providing information regarding available services and program eligibility requirements. May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Applicants for non-competitive appointment may be considered in conjunction with applicants for possible reassignment/advancement.
Experience Requirement: One year of experience in an office environment performing a variety of clerical and support services to include keyboarding and one or more of the following: document or information processing, handling payments for fees, recording monies received, reconciling balances or accounts and/or scheduling meetings or appointments.
Testing: Applicants selected to interview must pass an appointing authority administered examination to demonstrate keyboarding skills at the Judiciary standard of at least 25 words per minute, or must have otherwise demonstrated this competency as detailed below.
BICAT Testing: Candidates selected to serve in a bilingual variant title must pass the New Jersey Civil Service Commission Bilingual Communicative Ability Test (BICAT) performance examination or provide proof of having established bilingual proficiency with the New Jersey Civil Service Commission.

Eligibility for Advancement: Eligibility is based upon the applicants having achieved all the competencies for advancement to Judiciary Clerk 3 as listed on the Career Progression Eligibility Form for this title. Applicants for advancement to the Judiciary Clerk 3 title are not required to take a New Jersey Civil Service Commission promotional examination.

Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.

Residency Law: In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person may request an exemption from that requirement from the Employee Residency Review Committee in the Department of Labor & Workforce Development on the basis of either hardship or employer critical need.
