SALARY: The hourly rate for this position is $20.00.

This position is limited to a maximum of 944 hours in a fiscal year. Interns would be required to work up a minimum of 10 hours up to 20 hours per week.

The Intensive Supervision Program (ISP) is part of the Probation Division and the Judiciary. ISP provides case management, supervision and supports to clients released from state prison to serve the remainder of their sentence in the community under community supervision. ISP works closely with clients, judges, the Department of Corrections, other divisions of the Judiciary, and various community agencies. ISP also has a juvenile component of the program, the Juvenile Intensive Supervision Program (JISP). JISP supports youth placed on probation and works to assist the youth focus on behavior change to avoid future involvement with the criminal justice system.

Example of Duties

  • Prepare for, attend, moderate and assist with virtual ISP court proceedings
  • Assist with intake and other client contacts
  • Research caseloads and compile case-related information for ISP managers, supervisors, and staff
  • Collecting, entering, and analyzing data
  • Drafting routine and non-routine correspondence and memos
  • Providing customer service
  • Conducting research and analysis
  • Calendar management
  • Document retrieval, preparation, and dissemination of court packets for ISP judges
  • Performing computer-related work
  • Attending planning meetings
  • Performing special projects


Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.

Qualifications

Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university pursuing a degree or certificate in the Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a related field.

Unofficial College or University transcript must be included in your application in order to be considered.

Supplemental Information

Physical Ability: For some positions, applicants must have the ability to perform work which requires climbing and prolonged standing, stretching, bending and reaching. The selected candidate must be able to frequently lift and carry supplies weighing from 30 to 50 pounds and, occasionally, materials weighing up to 75 pounds.

Driver's License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.

Special Note: Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting. All data received will be kept in strict confidence except to inform the individual of the findings and what action will be taken as a result of this information.

Residency Law: In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person may request an exemption from that requirement from the Employee Residency Review Committee in the Department of Labor & Workforce Development on the basis of either hardship or employer critical need.
