NJ DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS is currently accepting out of state applicants in

Salary and Benefits:
Salary and Compensation. Correctional Police Officer’s Salary starts at $48,000 with the potential to earn up to $123,000 with an additional uniform allowance of $2,200.00 paid annually. Note: first 19 weeks in training academy at $43,000.00
Benefits. Health benefits are provided through the State Health Benefits Program, including Prescription, Dental Care, and Eye Care.
Pension. Membership in the Police and Firemen’s Retirement System (PFRS), and Life Insurance Benefits.
Time Off and Sick Leave. 13 State Holidays, vacation time up to 25 days per year, three days per year of administrative leave, 15 days of sick time per year, and military service leave.
Tuition Aid Program is available.
Clothing Reimbursement up-to $1100 with proof of purchase for academy related gear/clothing, (upon successful completion of the academy).
Full Job Description:
The New Jersey State Correctional Police Officer is responsible for ensuring the custody, safety, and care of incarcerated individuals confined in State correctional facilities. Exercises full police powers and acts as a peace officer for the detection, apprehension, arrest, and conviction of offenders against the law.

REQUIREMENTS:
Age: Minimum of 18 years of age;
Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States;
High school diploma or equivalent; Must read and write English sufficiently to perform duties;
License: Candidates will be required to possess a valid driver’s license. Candidates for this position must be eligible to possess a firearm in accordance with State and Federal laws;
Background: Investigation of candidates’ employment history, driving history, domestic violence history, and criminal history are conducted; and
Medical: Candidates will be given a thorough medical and psychological examination. They must provide urine samples for analysis to determine drug use.
Must be able to attend 19 weeks in a training academy.
Must be able to complete the NJ Police Training Commission Physical Training Assessment, which consists of the following:19 pushups in 1 minute
22 sit-ups in one minute
5 inch vertical jump
300 meter run in 84 seconds
5 mile run in 19 minutes
