What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Specialist 1 Human/Social Services position at New Jersey Department of Health?
This position will screen and review court orders from different County Courts for Outpatient Competency Evaluation Program, complete pre-evaluation screening data upon acceptance of referral for Outpatient Competency Evaluation Program, arrange and coordinate Outpatient Competency evaluation by Ann Klein Forensic Center Clinical Psychologists and Psychiatrists in collaboration with the County Jails and NJ Courts, and interpret Outpatient Evaluation Program criteria as needed. Consult with clinical staff at Ann Klein Forensic Center and Department of Health/Division of Behavioral Services. They will also serve as liaison between Ann Klein Forensic Center staff and outside agencies regarding Outpatient Evaluation Program, monitor patients throughout evaluation process, beginning from initial court order through admission (when indicated) to other facilities (including AKFC and other State facilities), collect and maintain appropriate records, provide Outpatient Competency Program reports to management/administration and external agencies as required by NJ Courts, and review and maintain Outpatient Competency reports, provide necessary and requested data for systemic monitoring, evaluation, and record keeping.
REQUIREMENTS:
NOTE: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.
Five (5) years of professional experience in planning, monitoring, coordinating, implementing, modifying and/or evaluating a social or human services program.
OR
Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and one (1) year of the above-mentioned professional experience.
OR
Possession of a master's degree from an accredited college or university in a Social/Human services specialty area, Public or Business Administration, Child Advocacy and Policy, or Child Advocacy and Policy with a concentration in Public Child Welfare.
NOTE: "Professional experience" refers to work that is analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range of basic knowledge of the profession's concepts and practices; and is performed with the authority to act and make accurate and informed decisions.
