What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Specialist 2 position at New Jersey Department of Health?
Under the direction of a Program Specialist 3 or 4, Social/Human Services, or other supervisory officer in a State Department or agency, takes the lead over professional and/or technical staff engaged in program activities; performs professional, administrative and analytical work to promote the planning, operation, implementation, monitoring and/or evaluation of human or social services programs; does other related duties as required.
To improve the quality of services and documentation in the facility. To include Develop and maintain databases for the purpose of ensuring the quantity of therapeutic programming and documentation as well as compliance with applicable guidelines and standards and federal lawsuit settlement. Provide reports of findings and plans for improvement on a regular basis as determined by facility administration. Identifies and analyzes factors that contribute to inappropriate utilization of services, situations, or processes, and which promote or reduce optimum client care. To ensure compliance and areas of improvement are sustained. To include Conducts, focus studies as needed to determine root cause(s) when patterns and trends are identified in program documentation. Responds to requests for information in a timely manner. To conduct requested chart reviews of medical records and provide feedback as to deficiencies and areas for improvement. To maintain a system of tracking and alerts ensuring compliance with court orders. To maintain a system of tracking and ensuring compliance with assigned documentation. To oversee and direct treatment team staff as it relates to above goals while maintaining communication with staff supervisors. Assist discipline heads in monitoring performance measures (indicators) used to evaluate the quality and appropriateness of the Department's services/documentation. provide on-going consultation and education to staff regarding state, federal, department, and facility regulations.
REQUIREMENTS:
NOTE: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.
Six (6) years of professional experience in planning, monitoring, coordinating, implementing, modifying and/or evaluating a social or
human services program.
OR
Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and two (2) years of the above-mentioned professional experience.
OR
Possession of a master's degree from and accredited college or university in a Social/Human services specialty area, Public or Business Administration, Child Advocacy and Policy, or Child Advocacy and Policy with a concentration in Public Child Welfare; and one (1) year of the above-mentioned professional experience.
NOTE: "Professional experience" refers to work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the authority to act according to one's own judgment make accurate and informed decisions
