Job Duties
Operates cash register according to standard procedure. Collects cash payments; collects
and tallies meal vouchers.
Balances the cash drawer daily, reporting any discrepancies to supervisor or Cafeteria
Manager
Responsibly handles all monetary transactions.
Fills and/or stocks cashier area (e.g., puts out appropriate signs, makes sure supply of
muffins, cookies, etc. are adequate) and other areas as assigned
Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant
attitude, patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring,
and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality
assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Assesses
gaps in policies and procedures and create necessary policies and procedures to fulfill
these gaps.
Understands and adheres to the Medical Center's Code of Conduct.
Familiar with the Medical Center's Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.
Other Duties
Assists in miscellaneous food preparation as required.
Makes sure all point-of-sale signs and menu boards are current.
Smiles and greets customers promptly and courteously, giving information and direction as needed.
Completes side work as needed: stocks bread, refills salad bar, replenishes condiment stands, makes coffee,
wraps, and cookies.
Participates in in-services and departmental meetings.
Assist in catering as needed.
Performs other related duties assigned
Position Qualifications
At least one year of experience as a cashier preferred.
Must pass basic math skills test.
Able to operate cash register and handle monetary transactions quickly and accurately.
Good oral communication skills.
Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.
Education
High School graduation or equivalent.
Job Setting/Physical Demands
Cafeteria, contact with visitors and all levels of staff.
Mostly sedentary.
Hot surfaces such as ovens, steam tables, etc.
Excessive cold; freezer refills.
