Patient Care Coordinator
Seeking highly motivated, organized, personable individual to join our busy Vascular Surgical Practice.
Working knowledge of EMR systems, experience in healthcare, knowledge of medical terminology and insurances preferred .
- Ability to work independently, relate well with others, and be flexible.
Must have computer skills; ability to learn and effectively use Athena scheduling software, and Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook) or equivalent.
- Register patients ensuring that all information in the system is accurate and complete.
- Assist in ensuring appropriate preoperative paperwork is complete and post-operative reports are tracked. Responsible for verifying patient's insurance. Ensures referrals and any necessary authorizations are in place. Verify insurance benefits for office visits and surgical procedures.
- Communicates problems to the proper personnel promptly -- asks questions to clarify misunderstandings, requests assistance from appropriate personnel in the event of an unusual or difficult situation.
- Demonstrates a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail at all times. Demonstrates an awareness of their importance in contributing to patient safety.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service in communication with patients, physicians/physician staff, all departments within the surgery center, miscellaneous callers and visitors.
- Demonstrates good judgment by following written and verbal instructions carefully.
- Demonstrates the ability to adapt to change in the workload as required; uses time productively. Shows good judgment in the answering and referral of phone calls.
- Able to collaborate with other surgical schedulers when needed.
Education and Experience - Additional Comments
- Previous hospital or physician's office experience/ scheduling insurance verification and data entry experience preferred at least 2-3yrs.
- Physical Demands: Typical office environment.

- Concentration and ability to handle multiple tasks in a distracting, fast-paced work environment. Must be detail oriented and have strong customer service skills. Fast paced, high call volumes.
Schedule:
- 8-hour shift
- Monday -Friday 9-5pm
