We’re looking for a Director, Unemployment Claims Processing to take the reins of a high-performing team, optimize processes, and provide exceptional client service in the complex world of unemployment insurance. This hire will have a vital role in shaping department policies while identifying and creating opportunities for department growth.
What you’ll do:
- Lead, support, and develop the Unemployment Claims staff including claims examiners and administrative staff, providing opportunities for training and growth
- Represent clients at unemployment hearings, prepare witnesses, and advise clients on appeal strategy
- Oversee day-to-day department operations and ensure service excellence by streamlining processes, enhancing productivity, and improving operational efficiency in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, regulations and industry trends related to unemployment insurance, ensuring department adherence to all applicable legal requirements and NJHA policies
- Identify opportunities for business growth and build strong client relationships to further expansion of services to existing and new clients.
- Prepare reports on trends, risks, and performance to executive committees
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree required (B.A. or B.S.); Advanced degree preferred
- 3 years of experience in unemployment claims or a related field
- Strong knowledge of federal and state unemployment laws and regulations
- Experience in business operations and workflow management with a vision for scaling services and shaping the future of the department
- Legal or government hearing experience strongly preferred
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
- A proactive, data-driven mindset
