The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for application systems/project planning, estimating, tracking, reporting and management. This role involves managing healthcare-related projects from inception to completion. This includes working closely with all New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII) business areas, clients and vendors. Assists in defining systems/project priorities, scope, approach, resource requirements, and timing of deliverables. The Senior Project Manager will work closely with third party vendors and cross-functional teams to meet project milestones, manage schedules, and provide high-quality deliverables, status reports, and communication plans.
Essential Functions –
- Successfully manages planning, monitoring, and delivery of multiple, simultaneous projects with minimal supervision.
- Arranges schedules, manages and tracks project progress and conducts status meetings
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, and quality standards
- Works with third party vendors and cross-disciplinary teams to keep projects on track and facilitate effective communication and change management.
- Ensures adherence to SOW requirements, articulate on building awareness of quality and compliance issues
- Identifies key business needs and issues while documenting requirements of execution
- Identifies potential risks, escalates as needed, and develops mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Proactively develops knowledge, identifies needs, issues and solutions
- Strong verbal and written communication to professionally summarize and present updates internally
- Reviews, creates and finalizes professional documents for review by senior manager
- Experience with various Project Management methodologies (Agile and/or Waterfall)
- Experience with program management office planning and operations activities
- Successful track record of delivering on agreed upon business objectives and performance on key metrics
Additional Functions –
- Participates in PMO operations and manages projects of large size and complexity
- Creates and integrates well-crafted, accurate, appropriate PMO documentation into company assets and software tools using project management standards for presentation to executive
- May serve as a liaison between NJII and regulatory and governmental agencies, regional providers and vendors
- Performs other duties as assigned by Leadership
- Assists in developing and evaluating systems specifications
Prerequisite Qualifications –
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Business Administration, Finance, Health Administration or relevant work experience required; Master’s degree preferred
- PMP certification required
- Direct experience managing large scale Health Information Exchange integrations
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience in healthcare or equivalent
- Excellent analytical skills
- Demonstrated clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and interoperability standards such as FHIR, HL7, and Direct Secure Messaging.
- Experience gathering requirements from the client/business and providing clear documentation
- Experience with project methodology (requirements, design, development, test and implementation)
- Familiarity with business process design and aid the high-level business process design efforts with the assistance of the stakeholders and end-user
- Demonstrated strong focus on execution and delivery with the ability to make recommendations and mitigate timeline risks
- Demonstrated project and work planning experience
- Experience or knowledge of health information technology, including but not limited to electronic health records (EHR), Health Information Exchange (HIE), and patient care flow., Demonstrated analytical, creative problem solving and communication skills
- Proven track record managing complex projects on time and within budget.
