Position Summary :
TheMechanical and Industrial Engineering Department at the New Jersey Institute ofTechnology (NJIT) invites applications for a University Lecturer or SeniorUniversity Lecturer position in mechanical engineering. This is a full-time teaching appointment whose essentialfunction is to teach and develop undergraduatecourses in mechanical engineering with anemphasis on, but not limited to : mechanics, dynamics, thermodynamics, materialsscience, design, and structural analysis. The successful candidate shoulddemonstrate a commitment to educational excellence in a public university witha diverse student body.
Essential Functions :
Candidatesare expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses inmechanical engineering as well as provide service to the program,department, university, and profession.
Prerequisite Qualifications :
- Applicantsare expected to have a doctorate degree in mechanical engineering or a relateddiscipline.
- Candidates should possess a thorough understanding of mechanical engineeringand the engineering design process.
- Candidates must demonstrate clear potentialfor excellence in teaching and mentoring.
- Candidates are expected to contributeto other department services. Professional practice experience is desirable.
- At the university's discretion,the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidatecan demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalentcombination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidatefor success in the position.

TheMechanical and Industrial Engineering Department in the Newark College ofEngineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology is an advancedresearch-active department. Research thrust areas include Biomechanics,computational fluid mechanics, biomedical devices, robotics, controls andautomation, smart materials, mechanics of complex materials, advanced energysystems, thermal-fluid systems, climate modeling, computer aided design,machine learning, supply chain and operations research. Our department features30 tenured / tenure-track faculty and 6 teaching faculty who contributesignificantly to our educational excellence and mission. Our departmentaccommodates an impressive student body of 1,200 individuals, making us one ofthe largest academic departments in the Newark College of Engineering at NJIT.Our offerings include 24 graduate MS, PhD, and certificate programs, as well asundergraduate majors in mechanical engineering (ME) and industrial engineering(IE).
