Position: Direct Support Professional
Job Description:
As a direct support professional [DSP] with New Journeys Support Services, you will play a vital role in enhancing the lives of individuals who are eligible to receive DDA services and living independently in their own home. DSP’s work closely with a diverse group of adults to help them achieve their goals, foster independence, and ensure their overall well-being. Your role will encompass various responsibilities, including but not limited to personal care, behavior management, skill development and community integration. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing individualized support and assistance to adults with disabilities in their daily activities.
- Promoting skill development, independence, and community integration.
- Creating a safe and inclusive environment where everyone is valued and respected.
- Implementing person-centered care plans and behavior support strategies.
- Encouraging social engagement, recreational activities, and community outings.
- Collaborating with a diverse and passionate team to ensure the well-being and progress of our participants.
Required Training
- Completion of 75-Hour DSHS Caregiver Training within 120 days upon hire
- 12 Hours of Nurse Delegation training
- On-the-job client-specific training
- Continuing Education annually
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 21 years or older
- Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance
- Ability to pass a background check & fingerprint
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Nursing Assistant Registered [NAR] license
- Certification of completion for DSHS approved 40 Hour Core Basic training
- CPR and First Aid certification
- At least one (1) year of experience working with vulnerable populations.
Physical Requirements
This position may require the ability to lift and assist individuals with mobility limitations, as well as perform physical tasks related to personal care and safety
