New Lenox Public Library is looking for a detail oriented, accountable, and organized team player to oversee our Library’s building and grounds. This position provides many opportunities, including maintaining multiple mechanical systems, supporting staff, and being involved in ongoing building renovations. How You’ll Contribute:
The Facility Coordinator is responsible for:
- Performs preventive and routine maintenance of all building and mechanical systems and equipment to ensure successful daily operation of library building
- Performs minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC repairs
- Responsible for maintenance budget and monitors expenditures
- Oversees daily cleaning of building and grounds maintenance
- Responds to emergency calls after hours
- Sets up meeting room for programs and events
- Oversees maintenance contracts
- Solicits bid proposals and collaborates with Executive Director to prepare recommendations for Board approval
- Maintains a building inventory list of Library property
- Maintains library vehicles and equipment
- Responsible for development and implementation of maintenance initiatives and activities supporting the library’s strategic plan
- Demonstrates creativity, initiative, and ability to work independently to achieve personal, department, library focused goals
- Prepare monthly reports as required
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements include:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum five years of experience in facility maintenance
- Possesses working knowledge of:
- Carpentry, electrical, and plumbing skills
- Commercial electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, and security systems
- Processes and equipment used in commercial custodial work
- Computers, basic software applications (ex. Word, Excel, email), and building automation systems
- Budgeting experience
- Ability to
- Interpret blueprints and construction drawings
- Understand and negotiate commercial service agreements and contracts
- Access to transportation and ability to travel

This full-time, non-exempt hourly position is scheduled for 37.5 hours per week and will report to the Executive Director.
