Medication Technician

New Life Assisted Living Inc has immediate job availability for Certified Medication Technicians .

Summary:

Responsible for the delivery of care and services to all residents in the community. This includes assistance with activities of daily living, housekeeping, scheduled activities, and dining services, and nursing according to company policies, practices, standards, and individual service plan needs of each assigned resident. The live-in caregiver generally works between 2-5 consecutive days, including working every other weekend.

Essential Functions, Experience and Skills:

• Administers medication to residents according to their prescribed orders
• Keeps accurate records within a medication administration record
• Informs Pharmacist, Assisted Living Manager, and Delegating Registered Nurse of changes in prescribed orders. Updates the medication administration record as needed when changes occur
• Provides personal care to residents, to include but not limited to, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, meal preparation and feeding as assigned according to each resident's service plan.
• Provides general nursing care, to include but not limited to, checking vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, fasting blood sugar), height and weight
• Answers calls for resident assistance
• Documents appropriate information in the daily log as required and records weekly care notes.Completes all necessary forms
• Reports all resident-related and community-related concerns to Manager and/or Delegating Nurse immediately.
• Ensures assigned residents are in the dining room for all meals, assists with resident meals to include' but not limited to, meal service, setting tables, clearing dining room.
• Provides hydration and snacks according to service plan
• Provides and participates in activities as scheduled according to the calendar
• Responsible for the removal of all wet and/or soiled laundry to the laundry. Washes, dries, folds, and stores laundry per company policy
• Cleans and vacuums resident rooms and bathroom when needed daily on non-scheduled housekeeping days. Makes bed upon resident arising for breakfast and turns back covers at dinnertime. Strips bed when linens are soiled and make bed using clean sheets.
• Empties trash on all shifts, Soiled incontinent products are immediately removed and placed in approved outdoor containers.
• All Foley catheters , commodes, and bedpans are emptied and disinfected on all shifts.
• Responsible for resident checks every 2 hours or sooner
• Ensures all residents on toileting schedules are assisted to the bathroom and care is given as needed on a regular basis as assigned utilizing standard precautions.
• Ensures all residents who have scheduled appointments are clean, well groomed, and given all essential paperwork prior to leaving for their appointment\
• Follows all federal, state and local regulations
• Follows all company standards, policies and practices to include, but not limited to, attendance, dress code. Must be able to report in a punctual manner for all scheduled shifts.
• Gives thorough report to oncoming staff members and the exchange of shifts. Completes and records a controlled drug count with oncoming staff at the exchange of shifts
• Ensures completion of additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma
• 18 years of age
• Certified Medication Technician
• Certified Nursing Assistant OR Geriatric Nursing Assistant preferred
• CPR and First Aid
• Annual Physical
• PPD or Chest X-Ray
• COMAR Annual Training Certifications
• Background Check
• Minimum 2 years assisted living experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $150.00 - $180.00 per day

• 12 hour shift
• Day shift
• Evening shift
• Monday to Friday
• Morning shift
• Overnight shift

Ability to Relocate:

• Ellicott City, MD 21042: Relocate before starting work (Required)
