ARISE Creations is a youth-fueled, creative business that seeks to empower, encourage and educate youth through the vehicles of entrepreneurship and mentorship. Our hope is to see the youth achieve these goals through creating and selling handmade jewelry. Each one of the youth that enters the program learns, creates, and sells their pieces, equipping them with the job skills while giving them a safe space to express themselves and grow. Each day the youth are equipped and empowered to be agents of change in their community. Participants also engage in community craft fairs, home parties, and sell at other events and venues.
Position Summary
The Program Manager - ARISE Creations & GEMS position is part-time, 25 hours per week (non-exempt) and will primarily take place at our Little Village and Humboldt Park locations. The Program Manager of ARISE Creations & GEMS will facilitate entrepreneurship programming and selling events for youth 7th-12th grade. The Program Manager is responsible for the daily logistics of effective programming. Program takes place in group settings, and mainly during after school hours. Some activities may take place during the daytime. Please ask about Summer Schedule. Requires schedule flexibility. Some weekends may be required. May require some local travel (reimbursable). Pay commensurate with experience. This position is in-person.
Job Responsibilities
- Assists with youth and participation in information sessions to explain expectations, roles, and responsibilities of participants.
- Assures planning and implementation of outreach and recruiting of youth to program as needed.
- Assists with attainment of enrollment goals including recruitment and implementation of creative and relevant programming.
- Performs youth interviews and assists youth with learning the interview process.
- May assist with the youth stipend process.
- May assist with selling events and coordination of logistics, product, youth attendance.
- Maintains accurate inventory and may purchase supplies as necessary.
- May assist with social media assuring it is up to date, accurate, engaging and active.
- Assists in the creative process of merchandise and product creation as well as connection to events.
- Serves as a liaison and youth advocate with families, school administrators, and social and youth services agencies.
- Produces documents, receipts and correspondence regarding activities and progress as necessary for consistent evaluation of program and timely report submittal.
- Assures lessons provided or created are relevant and appropriate.
- Supervision includes on-site visits, regular check-ins, and break-out planning meetings.
- Assures documentation of all participant contacts and services provided and assists data team and development team with data collection and required reporting.
- Maintains accuracy of budget and spending plan if applicable.
- Participates in required evaluations and audits.
- Demonstrates New Life Centers’ values.
- Attends required meetings and trainings.
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Skills & Qualifications
- Must become a Certified Mandated Reporter. Training provided.
- Must pass a background check, must not have any pending cases.
- Must pass a Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System background check.
- Must pass a National Sex Offender Registry background check.
- Must have a working phone and phone number.
- One year experience working in the human services field in a capacity that involves direct services to at-risk youth.
- Cross-cultural competency.
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must be willing to be trained, and proficiently utilize database(s) and information tracking systems relevant to duties.
- Must keep confidentiality of participant information.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license, insurance, good driving record, access to a vehicle. Subject to driving background check.
- General knowledge of sports.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
