What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kids Ministries Director position at New Life Church of Woodbury?
The Kids Ministries Director is responsible for overseeing all NLC children’s ministries, reaching children from infancy through 5th grade. This position requires coordination with church staff and oversight of volunteers serving in our nursery, preschool, and children’s areas with the purpose of leading all children to a foundational authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. Additional responsibilities may include involvement with AWANA, NLA’s weekly Lower School Chapel and NLC Family Ministries, which could turn into a full-time position.

Clear Purpose
- Develop and lead Bible-based children’s ministry programs and activities through the lens of Teach, Care, Send.
- Recruit, train, and equip volunteers to effectively serve in the Children’s Ministry.
- Create and implement age-appropriate Bible curriculum that is creative and engaging.
- Organize and execute special events, such as VBS and other appropriate events.
Instruction
- Knowledge of the Bible and the ability to teach children biblical principles.
- Ability to work with children of all ages.
- Takes creative approaches to teach biblical principles.
Professional Responsibilities
- Required ministry involvement includes (but not limited to): Sunday morning Children’s Church, programming for Tuesday morning Women’s Bible Study, Lower School Chapel on Wednesday mornings, AWANA on Wednesday evenings.
- Future opportunities: Sunday School programming, Family Ministries Coordinator
- Strong organizational and communications skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to lead and manage a team of volunteers, scheduling volunteers through Planning Center Online.
- Must be able to attend monthly staff meetings and weekly EOS meetings.
- This position reports directly to the Pastor of Ministry Operations.
- Must be able to clearly coordinate with NLC Technical Director for all tech-related needs.
- Seek regular professional development to grow in gifts and abilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred.
- Three or more years of Children's Ministry experience.
SPIRITUAL
- Born again believer based on Romans 10:9 and has been baptized in water by full immersion (Matthew 3:16).
- Ability to effectively integrate the Gospel-centered message into day-to-day responsibilities effectively.
- Member of New Life Church and aligns with the mission, vision, and doctrines of NLC.
