What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant (CMA) position at New Life Medicine, PLLC?
Qualifications:
(a) CMA or RMA certificate from an accredited school
(b) At least 1-year experience in a health care setting
(c) Follow and understand medical charts, medical procedures, medical office terminology, and coding
(d) Good knowledge of computer skills
CMA or RMA Job Duties:
(a) Welcome patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering referring inquiries
(b) Updating and filing patient records
(c) Prepare patient for healthcare visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examination room, providing any needed supplies for the physician
(d) Verify patient information by interviewing the patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history, recording vital signs; confirming purpose and treatment
(e) Support patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing lab specimens; disposing of contaminated supplies; telephone prescriptions to pharmacies; authorizing medication refills as directed by physician; drawing blood
(f) Educate patients by providing medication and diet information
(g) Complete records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results
(h) Administering medications, injections, changing dressings, and removing sutures
(i) Keep medical supplies such as gloves, alcohol pads, etc. in stock
(j) Maintain safe and secure work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations
(k) Maintain HIPAA and all confidentially by keeping patient records confidential
(l) Serve and protect the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies, procedures, and all federal, state, and local requirements.
(m) Enhance the health care facility’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
