Counselor, Trauma-Informed & Ketamine Therapy

Position Overview:

New Life Wellness (NLW) is seeking a compassionate and experienced Counselor, Trauma-Informed & Ketamine Therapy, to join our team. 


This role involves providing therapeutic support to patients undergoing ketamine therapy treatments, with a focus on trauma-informed care, emotional regulation, mindfulness, and holistic wellness. The ideal candidate will have experience working with depression/treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, grief, personality disorders, and suicidality.


The position will primarily involve sessions with clients in-between their ketamine therapy treatments, however, it may also involve individual and group ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) as well as trauma-informed counseling outside of ketamine therapy.  


Client marketing, booking, and billing/insurance will be handled by NLW.


This is a part-time independent contractor position with flexible scheduling based on patient needs. Sessions will primarily be in-person at NLW, however tele-health may also be necessary. Evening and weekend hours may be required. There may be the potential for permanent employment longer term.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee intake/pre-treatment assessments and post-treatment support for patients and in collaboration with NLW’s provider team.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address patients' unique trauma experiences and needs.
  • Provide counseling to patients dealing with conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain, or other mental health challenges.
  • Assist patients in integrating insights and experiences from ketamine sessions into their daily lives.
  • Apply trauma-informed principles to create a safe and non-triggering environment for patients.
  • In collaboration with Medical Director, approach treatment interventions from a holistic and lifestyle point of view that complement ketamine therapy, such as mindfulness, and stress management.
  • Work closely with the NLW’s Partners (Medical Director & Integration Guide) as well as other staff & providers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in case conferences to discuss patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families about treatment options and progress.
  • Document patient interactions and progress in electronic health records (EHR).


Required Qualifications:

  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in Ohio
  • Experience treating depression/treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, grief, personality disorders, and suicidality
  • Experience with Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
  • Trauma-informed certification
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with patients
  • Understanding of holistic and lifestyle approaches to medicine
  • Ketamine and/or psychedelic-assisted therapy certification
  • A personal meditative or mindfulness practice
  • Experience facilitating or co-facilitating group sessions
  • A curious, problem-solving based approach to treatment
  • Open to emerging evidence-based practices


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) certification
  • Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) certification
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) certification
  • Mindfulness certification
  • Experience and deep interest in ketamine and/or other psychedelic therapies, as well as other evidenced based, nervous system regulation modalities 


Compensation:

Competitive hourly salary commensurate with experience.
