Bus Driver

New London Local Schools is seeking dedicated and responsible individuals to join our team as School Bus Drivers. As a vital part of our commitment to student safety and well-being, school bus drivers play a crucial role in transporting students to and from school in a secure and timely manner. Responsibilities:

1. Safe Transportation: Safely operate a school bus while adhering to all traffic and safety regulations.
2. Student Welfare: Ensure the well-being of students during transportation, maintaining a positive and respectful environment.
3. Route Management: Follow assigned routes and schedules, making necessary adjustments when required.
4. Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
5. Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, school staff, and transportation department personnel.
6. Emergency Procedures: Be prepared to handle emergency situations, including evacuations and first aid if necessary.
7. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of daily mileage, fuel consumption, and other relevant information.
8. Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal regulations governing school bus operations.

Qualifications:

1. Ohio CDL with School Bus Endorsement: Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a school bus endorsement in the state of Ohio.
2. Clean Driving Record: Demonstrate a safe and responsible driving history.
3. Physical Fitness: Ability to pass required physical examinations and screenings.
4. Background Check: Successfully complete a thorough background check, including criminal history and driving record checks.
5. Communication Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with students, parents, and colleagues.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience as a school bus driver is not required.
