Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to patients in various healthcare settings. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical-surgical, geriatrics, outpatient, and inpatient care, and will be comfortable working in environments such as clinics, Level I and II Trauma Centers, and pediatric intensive care units (PICU). This role is crucial in ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients while assisting with their daily activities.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to the nursing staff.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients.
- Help with mobility assistance, including transferring patients to and from beds or wheelchairs.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to health and safety protocols.
- Document patient care activities accurately in accordance with facility policies.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in training sessions and continuing education opportunities as required.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical-surgical procedures, geriatrics, outpatient care, inpatient care, and trauma center protocols is highly desirable.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments such as clinics or trauma centers.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with patients and their families.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Certification as a Personal Care Assistant or relevant training is an advantage but not mandatory.
