What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Intake Specialist position at New Mexico Behavioral Healthcare?
POSITION SUMMARY
Provide clinical assessment, diagnosis, compassionate and evidence-based treatment; participate in weekly staffing; facilitate weekly walk-in intake clinics; develop and monitor treatment plans and progress, maintain clinical documentation; and other reporting data.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conducts comprehensive assessments and formulates differential diagnosis of mental health conditions and/or substance abuse on both a scheduled and walk-in basis (approx 20 Assessments expected complete per 40hr week)
- Participates on intake team to consult and assign caseloads to clinic providers, and oversee caseload management for the clinic
- Consults with the medical director and other providers regarding complex patients as needed and initiates internal referrals for patients when clinically indicated.
- Identifies patients with urgent mental health conditions (e.g. suicidal, homicidal, psychotic, risk of substance withdrawal, etc.) and makes appropriate referrals to available emergency or psychiatric treatment facilities.
- Provides individual therapy and formulates treatment plans for patients under care utilizing professional counseling standards.
- Provides timely written documentation of assessments, therapy sessions, etc., including all necessary billing information.
- Provides non-scheduled urgent assessment of patients as clinically indicated
- Participate in a team management approach to patient care/treatment.
- Provides supervision and shadowing opportunities to interns/practicum students.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Maintain and update professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education, staff meetings, workshops and serving on special committees.
- Must be highly proficient in diagnosis, and completing intake assessments, and fully proficient in 10-finger typing.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in clinical social work or mental health counseling preferred, not required OR be a licensed Registered Nurse in the state of new Mexico.
- Licensed as a behavioral health professional in the State of New Mexico (LCSW, LPCC, LMHC, LMSW), independently licensed preferred (LCSW, LPCC), preferred, not required.
- Must be able to pass the CYFD/DOH background check.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
