POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Business Development is a pivotal leader within our marketing team, directly reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. This role is instrumental in shaping and executing strategic initiatives aimed at expanding our footprint in the mental health and addiction services sector. The Director will lead efforts in promoting our comprehensive range of services, including adolescent care, Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), acute care, and acute treatment, specifically targeting key markets such as hospitals, insurance providers, crisis units, physicians, mental health professionals, educational institutions, community services, Tribal entities, and government agencies at all levels. This position is based in Albuquerque, NM, and requires a strong commitment to driving growth through strategic outreach and partnership development.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning & Execution: Lead the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of integrated marketing and sales strategies. These plans should be data-driven, leveraging current market trends and insights to optimize outreach efforts and achieve business objectives.
- Partnership & Growth Opportunities: Identify and cultivate new business opportunities and partnerships within the region. Work closely with internal teams to enhance operational efficiency and expand service offerings.
- Team Leadership & Development: Set and monitor individual goals for clinical liaisons, ensuring that targets for sales calls, referrals, admissions, and outpatient visits are met. Provide ongoing coaching and support to optimize team performance.
- Sales Tracking & Compliance: Oversee the accurate tracking of sales activities, maintenance of client profiles, and the development of monthly sales plans. Ensure all activities comply with the company’s standards of conduct and regulatory requirements.
- Performance Metrics: Drive the achievement of budgeted volume goals, particularly regarding the average daily census (ADC) and admissions, while ensuring the team meets established competency standards.
- Contract Negotiation: Collaborate with management teams to negotiate and renegotiate contracts with payors, ensuring terms that support volume growth and service expansion.
- Marketing & Public Relations: Direct all marketing and public relations efforts, including participation in conferences, seminars, advertising, media relations, and government relations. Enhance the organization’s visibility and reputation through strategic outreach.
- Program Development: Work in tandem with clinical leadership to develop, launch, and promote new programs and services, aligning them with market needs and organizational goals.
- Additional Duties: Undertake other responsibilities as assigned to support the ongoing needs of the organization.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: A minimum of five years of current experience in the healthcare industry is required, with at least three years in hospital sales/marketing. Supervisory experience is preferred.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field or marketing is preferred.
- Language Skills:
- Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting complex materials such as human service periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Skilled in writing clear and concise reports, business correspondence, and policy analysis.
- Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to inquiries from managers, patients, customers, and the public.
- Reasoning Ability: Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to define issues, gather and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in using Electronic Health Records, internet software, payroll systems, spreadsheet software, and word processing software. Must have the ability to comfortably view and navigate a computer monitor or notebook screen.
Physical Demands:
- The role involves standing, walking, and sitting during assigned hours.
- Ability to handle patient belongings with gloved hands, and perform tasks that require climbing, reaching, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Must possess standard sensory abilities (hearing, taste, smell, etc.) as applicable to patient care, along with specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 20 pounds and willing to travel as required.
