Why does the job exist?
Incumbent will provide advanced and master's level clinical social work, services via direct and indirect services for patients admitted into the Forensic Division of NMBHI.
How does it get done?
Social Work will participate in admissions and complete psychosocial assessment; will participate in development of treatment plan as well as participate in ongoing interventions. Social Worker will facilitate psychosocial education groups and individual education for patients. Social Worker will coordinate and communicate with the courts, attorneys, and families. Social Worker will develop discharge plan

Ideal Candidate
- Experience working within the mental health field.
- Experience in providing direct care services in an inpatient hospital setting.
- Experience working with interdisciplinary treatment team.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in human services, Social Sciences, Social Work, or Counseling and two (2) years of experience in mental health and/or substance abuse counseling. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Working Conditions
Position will perform work primarily in an office setting with extensive computer and phone usage and exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal. Lifting up to (30) pounds may be required. Effective 01/01/2015, the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/E-Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or E-Cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus/ Unit FTU. Work hours are 8 am to 5 pm.
