Why does the job exist?
Incumbent will provide therapeutic recreational classes/ activities to patients, clients, and residents at our Adult Psychiatric Division (APO).
How does it get done?
These classes/ activities are facilitated primarily in a library setting, however, there will be times when they will be held in classroom or outdoors. These classes/ activities include but no limited to basic computer use, navigating through the Internet, how to access websites, library use, or other types of reading material.

Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with rehabilitation services.
- Experience interacting with clients/ residents.
- Experience working with treatment teams.
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Employment is conditional pending the results of criminal records background checks. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Working Conditions
Position will perform work in both outdoor and in an office setting with computer, phone usage and exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal. Lifting up to thirty (30) pounds may be required. Effective 01 /01/2015, the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/E-Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or E-Cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus. Work department is Adult Psychiatric Division (APO). Shift 8 am to 4:30 pm.
