HOW WILL YOU HELP DRIVE THE FUTURE OF NATURAL GAS?
The Damage Prevention Coordinator I plays a key role with on Damage Prevention Law (Chapter 556). Works with natural gas service areas, contractors, excavators, emergency responders, Sunshine 811 and government officials to establish and set excavation safety expectations as it relates to excavation around the natural gas pipeline system. Provides outreach to local municipalities and leads the company efforts in prevention of high Pipeline Safety Risks. Serves as an integral part of damage recovery efforts for Peoples Gas. Ensures successful outcomes across the damage prevention ecosystem inclusive of excavators, the affected public, emergency responders, local governments / enforcement agencies, Sunshine 811, and Peoples Gas.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited instituion
- Valid Florida driver’s license and safe driving record
- 5 years of work experience performing related duties and responsibilities in a construction or utility industry. College degree can substitute for 2 years of experience.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with little to no direct supervision; demonstrated good judgment, an exceptional ability to organize and prioritize daily work and / or assignments and to maintain effectiveness when handling multiple tasks.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deliver effective presentations and maintain effective working relationships is required.
- Must be computer literate, with intermediate knowledge of MS Excel and Word, and be able to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide, decimals, fractions, basic algebra).
- Able to read and interpret maps; and demonstrate a basic understanding of a utility distribution system, line locating practices; and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of GIS mapping system with the ability to create and copy records / files from one database to another.
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, and demonstrate courtesy, tact, and good judgment and professional conduct when communicating in person, by telephone, or electronic communications.

STORM DUTY REQUIREMENTS
TECO Energy and its companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response / recovery activities related to emergencies / disasters to maintain service to our TECO Energy customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.
